Hello again folks! This is Evripidis again (E) and I thought I should share some knowledge regarding the TOYOTA engine codes. To begin with, TOYOTA has divided her engines in families, that are represented by a letter. The engine family code is the first letter (not the first numeral). For example. 1JZ-GTE and 2JZ-GTE belong both on the JZ family. 4A-GE, 4A-GZE or 7A-FE belong to the A family. The number that's before the family code lettering designates the generation. For example, the 1JZ engine is the 1st generation, while the 2JZ engine is the second generation. The bigger the number, the newer the engine. The letters that come after the dash, designate more technical stuff.
